Hard Enamel Badge Product Description
Custom-made hard enamel badges are the highest quality badges you can buy and one of our best-selling products.
Our hard enamel badges are made in vitreous enamel to your specific design and your choice of colours. Various finishes are available, for example, polished gilt, chrome and nickel silver plate. We also offer antique finishes in gold, silver and bronze.
Hard enamel pin badges are die-struck and then filled with hard enamel. The enamel is added several times to completely fill the badge to the same level as the metal die lines. It’s then heated and polished leaving the badge surface smooth to the touch.
A clear resin is placed over the badge to seal the enamel and make the badge robust and long-lasting. Hard enamel badges are the highest quality badge products we make.

Additional Details
Metal blanks are stamped from a die with your design engraved into them. Cutting tools are used to cut the badge to the required shape. This is how we can create badges in any size and shape.
Coloured enamel is laid by hand into one of the badge’s recessed areas. The enamel is then fired in an oven to harden the liquid. When the badges have cooled, any excess enamel is linished (smoothed) off.
The next colour is then added, and the process is repeated until all the colours are included. Finally, the badges are plated, and the final polish is applied.
Vitreous enamel also known as porcelain enamel, is made by fusing powdered glass into a die mould by firing it in an oven. This process turns it into a liquid, then once cooled the excess enamel is linished (smoothed) off and the next colour is added.
Traditional hard enamel is also known as cloisonné. It is the highest quality of enamelled badge, due to its hardness, robustness, and its smooth surface.
We also produce a more affordable alternative to enamel badges with our soft enamel badge range.
